What they were picking up on radar was most likely a cruise missile. The radar operators said they thought it was a military plane because an airliner could not be flown like that.

It's possible all the planes were landed at a remote air base, possibly Stewart Air base which the planes flew near. They could then be switched with drones which could be remotely controlled and be more reliable to hit the targets than Cessna-trained Arabs. As far as what happened to the passengers, if the perpetrators are willing to kill thousands, a couple hundred more won't make much difference to them.
What they were picking up on radar was most likely... (show quote)

Aside from being nutty as a fruitcake, Mr. Payne's latest post ignores the reality of how airplanes work and are tracked on radar. The airplane contains a "transponder" which identifies the airplane on radar with its flight number, aircraft type, and other data. There is also a "primary echo" which reflects the size of the aircraft, even if the transponder is disabled. Any landing, pursuant to Mr. Payne's bizarre conjecture, would be shown on radar as the primary target and (if still active) the transponder image disappearing. In addition, there is no evidence from the flight track of any landing at any secret airbase. (Perhaps Mr. Payne believes the secret airbase is also where UFOs and their pilots are stored?)

Incidentally, does Mr. Payne believe that all the investigators and rescue personnel who responded to the Pentagon were killed or otherwise silenced?

I was kind of wondering the same. Half the time I'm agreeing with Harvey and then sometimes we're 180 degrees off. Maybe it's just me.

All thinking is unaligned. That's what makes life interesting. And sometimes dangerous.

I guess I chose the wrong words I was trying to make a joke about the turmoil of the past few years.

Larry,

We need the General Stubblebines of this world.

Occasionally the easily accepted obvious answer is wrong.
Alternate views, even the apparently crazy ones should
not be ignored out of hand.

Before astronomy, if someone said "the earth is a sphere, and relative to a spherical earth there is no up or down"; they would have the credibility exactly that of General Stubblebine, even though they were 100% correct.
