I was so excited today ... I got 2 new filters a UV and a Circular Polarizer... couldn't wait to go out and try them. Got them home and guess what .... they are 58mm and my lens is 62mm LOL ...
So now I have to go out and find a step_down_ring adapter before I get that pleasure.

Went to a dozen different stores including where I bought the filters and nobody carries them .... wouldn't you know.
I can order one online which is what I will do but darn I really wanted to go out today and play with them LOL.

Has that ever happened to you ?

Of course. I also have a bunch of 55mm stuff from my old Minoltas that are sitting in a bag that dont fit my Nikon glass. If I try to step them up they cause vignetting....oh well.

Bummer .. at least 4mm isn't much of a step down hopefully it won't be that much of a problem

So far I haven't found a local store that even carries them. When I asked at the base exchange for a shutter cable release the guy sent me to Radio Shack ... so I stopped in there today looking for the step down ring and the salesman gave me that deer in the headlights look .... I rolled my eyes as I was walking out the door lol.

I think I'd just return them and order the size you need. JMHO of course.

If you have the receipt Walmart should take them back.

Hope so because I ended up going to Best Buy and got the same filters only 67mm with a 62mm step_up_ring adapter LOL ..
Got outside and couldn't wait to put them on and try them .... love them can't wait to post the photos I took with them today .....BUT .... guess what ? Now my lens cap won't fit because it's too small hahhahahhaha.
So I went to a camera shop the girl in Best Buy recommended for the shutter release cable .. to get a lens cap because I had already left Best Buy LOL.
Got there and he had a cap to fit yay.... however with the filters on my lens hood won't work either because the filters are too wide to put them on first and there isn't enough room for my fingers to reach into the hood to screw them in .... it's always something lol.... conveniently he had a lens hood that screws into the filters for a 67mm .... it's flexible ... awesome .... gimme gimme lol ...
As I was walking out I remembered the shutter cable release and wonder of wonders ... he had one for my camera ... yay I'm so happy now lol....
The hubby says .... can't send you anywhere hahhahahha.

I purchased a set of filters off e-bay that according to the ad was the correct size. Much to my dismay, they were to small for my lens. Contacting the seller, a camera store in New York, I was told it was their error and they refunded my money. Additionally, they told me to keep the filters for my trouble. I gave them to a friend that had the lens they would fit.

You really need to return them and get the 62mm filters. The 58's will definitely vignette at the wider end of your zooms, and probably a little bit at the tele end also. The 67mm filters with the step-up ring is the way to go as they will never vignette, and you can stack filters if the desire hits. Walmart only carries 52mm and 58mm filters because all the cameras they stock only take those 2 sizes (kit lenses). And even if they fit, I would be VERY suspect of the quality. A cheap filter can totally ruin a shot on a good lens. Remember, your shot is never any better than the glass you take it through.

Yep I so totally found that out today ... I stacked them but was very dissatisfied with the results ... maybe I'm just having an off day ... or maybe my camera needs cleaned ... or maybe I just suck lol.
