It's not abandoned. There's 25 illegals living there. Just kidding. I like the PP. Did you use a Topaz plug-in? Have you thought about removing the utility boxes and pole?
You might be right about the illegals, for all I know. PP is all done with Picasa, no Topaz. I thought about the boxes & the pole and decided I like them there. I know that many folks would take them out, but, to me, they add to the reality. Thanks for looking.

I did a little re-touch just for practice but according to policy I can't post without you permission. I'm still in the learning stages with Elements and thought it would be a good subject to play around with.
Looks like a fun subject, did you do any close ups?

Yeah, old and dilapidated just like us. But I've got some great stories. Most can't be posted here. To quote Jerry Garcia "What a long, strange trip it's been."

Go for it; I'd like to see what you did.

No, didn't have the time at the time. Wish I had had the time.

Here's the before and after. I should have done a better job with the post on the corner but you have the original. I've used Picasa and still use it for emailing photos because I like the way it downsizes the files for email purposes. After posting I realized the retouched shot seems a little lighter. Not sure why since I didn't alter the contrast or brightness. I'll blame it on the computer. That's always an easy out.

Nice reworking; good job. I don't have much luck with the eraser function in Picasa--it just doesn't seem to work for me. I have better luck with iPhoto's erase tool, but it isn't great, either. JM

Alas, I know that dilemma well: always moving, never taking (or making) the time, and generally being in a place during the harshest light conditions. But now that I'm a geezer & fast approaching official retirement age, I plan to change that habit.
That said, I thought I'd share on of my favorite -- and fairly accessible -- places for shooting old stone (& adobe) buildings. About 130 miles (two hours) east of Albuquerque, only 17 miles east of Santa Rosa, on I-40 is Cuervo, New Mexico. It's a little treasure trove of abandoned buildings, even though the community is still alive, albeit small.
If anyone in the Albuquerque area is interested in riding with me for a day of sunrise & sunset shoots in the Cuervo vicinity sometime, PM me. I'm planning another visit soon, probably in May.
