I'm going to make a personal photo book of some of my butterfly pictures I took last year in 2011. Here are some pictures I will include. They have all been cropped and edited.

Enjoy. Would you like to see some more?

Add some of your butterfly pictures.

Butterflies are always showing off ... flitting here and there, trying to impress everybody with their colors, and graceful flying skills.

They should remember where they came from.

:D

Nice pictures. I do have a pictures of a monarch caterpillar (and some other caterpillars) but not a chrysalis, nor a cocoon. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Thanks. I saved the site to my reading list. I bought a reference book, Butterflies of the North Woods by Larry Weber 2nd edition, that has helped me a lot. It has butterflies of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. It does include a few day flying moths at the end of the book. I love taking pictures of things in nature and then trying to identify the plant, wildflower, insect, butterfly, etc. I have learned a lot since retirement by doing this. I have so much to learn about photography and nature. That's what keeps me going.

You can submit photos of butterflies or moths you can't ID and an expert will get back to you within a couple of days with one. Where you using a macro lens? I've gotten interested in butterflies last year - here are some from east Tennessee

I'll have to remember that an expert will get back to me if a submit a photo of an unknown butterfly or moth to the site you referenced. I've used a macro lens for some of my butterfly pictures, and a 18-55, and a 70-300 lens as well. Thank you for sharing. It's nice to see butterflies and moths from other regions of the country. I've seen a question mark here, the other two I haven't.
