My sister took her first photo yesterday with a DLSR Canon 20D 18-55mm kit lens. It's of the Walla Walla River. She would like it critiqued, any comments are welcome. She plans on joining UHH when she returns to her home tp Spokane. Thanks, Seamus
Looks like she has a good eye for composition. A good start.
Personally, I like flowing water scenes such as these. It seems well balanced enough for a first try. It is a little dull of an exposure but nothing that can not be really done up well with some pp. With a little care in post, this photo can really stand out to look like something.

For me, I don't think the barren hills and the sky adds much to the creek/river. See what she thinks.
Keep in mind my self proclaimed level of photography expertise is "Snap Shot Guy".

There seems to be a bright blue line across the ridge of the hill did someone replace the sky in this shot?
No, the clouds in the upper right were blown out so I reduced the intensity in LR5. Thanks
