Shot in manual mode. First time exposed to natural window light coming in from the left. Then lowered shutter so that ambient light was underexposed. If I remember Aperture was around 11 to get flowers sharp but wall blurred. Set up a flash to the right thru a close-by white umbrella for soft diffused light and did some PS sharpening of the result and increased saturation and other PS butchery.

Trying hard to learn and share, and criticism is valuable to me, though I have a pot belly, my shoulders are broad and I can take the beating.

I like the light. Flowers have a nice soft quality without being out of focus. Nice work.

The download on this is gorgeous. Well done. It takes a lot of time and talent to build a good pot belly. You and I can both be proud. :D

My pot belly didn't cost a lot to get, but is expensive to maintain!! Like the photo. Good job.

You are not going to hear any complaints about this from me. It has an "old masters" quality to it. I feel I could just reach out and touch the tender petals. It is very beautiful and I think you did an excellent job. It has a soft richness to it.

I looked pretty hard at this picture and it looks great to me. I would recommend shooting down into the flowers and doing some close ups on some of the individual flowers. I recommend this only to give you some ideas for more practice. I like the overall composition of the picture itself. I have not really practiced any macro on any flowers. Your picture leaves me wanting to see the flowers close up.

thank you dwdickinson. I gave that a shot, and ran myself into numerous problems. I centered on one of the flowers that was yellow-white. And I saw an unbelievable amount of sensor dust, most that I cleaned up in PS. And I ran into composition problems, like greens in what I thought were wrong places. I'd upload the work for giggles and crits, but don't know yet how to do that and keep it in this thread. And the flower is three days older and starting to show it.

I determined one big thing. Shooting a bunch of flowers in a pot is much easier that getting a good focus and composition on a single one!!!
