Just with a first impression, the power lines and the harsh shadows distract from the barn, which I love by the way.

I'd really like to see a shot of the doors with the wreaths, surrounded by enough of the stone barn to frame it thickly...sometimes the shot of the detail (especially in the harsh light of midday) portrays better than the whole. I usually shoot both just to have them available to post process, but I like architectural detail when its featured on its own...windows, doors, arches, gambrels, beams, blah , blah, blah.

OK. I dont wanna momopolize, but I'm here and you asked.

1. I like the subject and the composition. (some might like a tighter crop on one window but this works for me.)
2. LEVEL the photo...straighten the "horizon" lines.
3. Enhance the contrast a bit to separate the girl from the background.
4. Playing with light levels can soften the couple shadows you have.
5. Deepen the saturation of the colors to feature the window frames, her coat, her hair.

As an aside. If the original includes the whole girl, its usually more desireable to include subjects that dont have parts "cut" off. If you have a shot with a whole subject, play with crops til you find one you like.

Post processing can be fun and can definitely help enhance good photos. Learn to look around your viewfinder and see things that you end up fixing before you release the shutter. It'll make you a better all around photographer.

Sorry this was so long.
Rocco

Looks like if you step about 4 or 5 feet foward you can avoid the wires. When people tell you to step BACK or to the SIDE, look first, that next step could be 300 ft. DOWN!

Hey, rsibert, welcome from SE PA. Love that stone barn. We have great barns/structures like that in Bucks County too. Rocco's advice was great. I leaned from it too!

Welcome...originally from North Central Pa. now in Illinois...still have family back East, some near Harrisburg. Really like the barn photo, but agree with Rocco on the wires. Can't wait to see more photos from you. :)
