Question concerning PP programs - anyone familiar with Corel's Paint Shop Pro-X6 Ultimate

I am curious as if any other UHH members have, or have ever used (or any experience at all) with PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate from COREL? Thanks for any and all responders. I am curious about how robust it is - I can get if for a fairly decent price... (And yes, I'm aware that Adobe's products are the "gold" standard here.)

One more question I [also] have is. Is anyone familiar with Apple's "APERTURE" PP software? Thanks again for all input.

I have the X5 Ultimate and like it, but I have to admit I wish it were more user friendley. I'm not really computer literate so I don't blame it all on the program. I even ordered a large manual for it from a local book store. (B&N)
Actually with all the PS users out there I feel like I should gotten the PS program because of all the help available for it. Good luck!!!

I had a very similar product before called "Jasc Paint Shop Pro". They got bought by Corel. I lost a couple of computers a few years ago and also lost the old Jasc program, which I really liked. I use Adobe CS4 and 5 but was missing certain things so I bought the Corel program. The program is quite intensive, but, I have removed it from my computer. It is a HUGE pain as it opens and takes over every JPEG. For that reason I would NOT have it on my computer anymore. Oh, after returning from the last assignment, I have found my old Jasc Paintshop Pro. I did load that program back on.

You make a very salient point concerning Adobe's CS PP software. Thanks.

Yes, I've used PSP since Jasc owned it. Fortunately, the last few editions of this program are aimed at photography.
It's MUCH easier to learn than PS and much less money.
I currently have the X5 version.

There IS a learning curve which any program has but nothing to the extent of PS. You may have a problem learning 'layers' but, again, so does everyone in the beginning. Then again, you may never have a need for
layers.

I also use Adobe's Lightroom 5 which I think is much easier than PSP plus I get great results from.

Good luck,
Gordon

I use the Pro x6 Ultimate program and find that it does everything I need and more. I have no issue with it taking over any of my pictures. I also use AfterShot for my first inital RAW files, along with NX View 2 from Nikon. There is a free 30 day trail you can download and see what you think of the program. For the cost and what you get it is the best deal for me. Thanks GP

I have been using PaintShop Pro ever since it was purchased by Corel. It is an extremely good program and on a par with Photoshop in what it can do. The only reason I am using Photoshop to the extent that I use it right now (about six hours a day) is that it is, as you recognize, the gold standard. Thus, I need to know how to use it.

I'm still best with PaintShop Pro but every time I do something in PaintShop Pro, I force myself within the week to learn to do the same thing in Photoshop.

Lastly, if there are 10 tutorials about how to do something in PaintShop Pro, there are 100 tutorials about how to do the same thing in Photoshop. That right there is a significant reason, to me, to use Photoshop.
