Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a free program that I can use to create a photo slideshow.

I've tried PowerPoint, but it seems that the photo appears inside a white box. I only want the photo to appear, without any white box border.

I appreciate any help and suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

What program do you use for your pp, as most programs will do that for you?

ProShow Gold 5.0 does very well, it is simple to use with the wizard; at the same time you may want to do your own style of slideshow and learn to use the program better. There are lots of tutorials on the Internet. It is worthy of consideration. It does great professional quality slideshows.

You can create a slideshow in Elements as well, were you choose the time (seconds) for each image and the style of transitions ( like fade, dissolve, etc.). It's all build in!

Yes, I'm aware of the program, and I know it does a great job, but I don't think it is a free program.

I'm looking for a free easy to use program. I don't plan on doing a lot of slide shows, and for that reason, I'm looking for a free version.

Here are a few suggestions MIKEAZZ

#1 Picasa is free. It's an editor and it can also create a slideshow. I just did a trial run on it and it's quite simple to use. http://picasa.google.com/ for a free download.

#2 Your computer is possibly loaded with Windows Movie Maker. I've used this on a few occasions; it's really quick for rendering and is easy to learn. Unfortunately I've abandonned it because the music that I had incorporated disapeared and was not recoverable on a few occasions. However if you can render before losing the music, it will be fast.

#3 I am current working with Video Pad Video editor from NCH. It's reliable and never bugs. It's made by an Australian company named NCH. I don't know if you can still get it for free but it's worth a try. They also have Photopad Photo editor which is more for photos only.

Good luck.

You said you already have Elements?

Hi speters and Mikeazz, I've just tried creating a slideshow in PSE 11 but cannot find it in the various options. Can you please clarify speters. On the other hand I believe that Photoshop Premiere is the one needed for slideshows. IT however is not free unless Mikeazz purchased a package deal with PSE 12. I purchased the 2 programs when I got PSE 11.

Hope this will help clarify.

I do not have Elements anymore , I've switched to CS5 ext. an long time age, but before that I had Elements 8 and remember doing a slideshow, but I don't remember all the single steps after all this time.

Not really, not if you are on a Mac. This slideshow feature you are talking about is only available in the Windows version of Elements. If you are on a Mac, you can create a PDF slideshow but you cannot add audio to it and you cannot control how your images transition.

Yes, you can create slideshows in Elements with all the "works" (transitions, sound mix, clip art, panning, etc.). But you can do this only if you are on a PC. This slideshow feature is only available in the Windows version of Elements. If you are on a Mac, you can create a PDF slideshow but you cannot add audio to it and you cannot control how your images transition.

I use Wondershare Slideshow. It is not free but very reasonable. Would be interested in how it stacks up against the Gold Slideshow software listed above.
