Occasionally there are questions about 'how good' the SX-50 by Canon is and always many good answers to that question, but one point that has been missed is also the great video (HD) that it shoots. It's not the 'answer-all' camera (for video), but does a great job. I projected some edited video I shot of a volleyball game, (huge image on a blank wall), and folks were amazed at the quality. Just thought I'd throw that in, although it possibly should have been posted in the Video section. Enjoy!

I have never considered trying the video mode. Thank you for sharing that information. Just one more setting to try.
I don't own an SX 50 but I agree with you that the incorporated HD Video function makes some digital cameras a highly versatile and quality recording tool. This is especially true when they are integrated into a slideshow. Some action shots need to be captured in video.
The image stabilization of the SX50 at full zoom for stills is very good - in video mode it is outstanding! If you use a monopod, it is rock-steady!
