I am thinking about buying a Canon SX50. I would like to see some real photos taken with it. would you post some images so I can look at them.
Also please list any pros & cons that you might have came across.
I was playing with one in best buy, the flash wouldn't pop up for fill light. Im sure there is a way. but I want to be sure can you pop the flash up for fill?
thank you

You have to pop the flash up manually. Then you can also adjust the flash to reduce the amount it affects the photo.
If you use the "Search" at the top and put in "SX50" or SX 50" you will find lots of good examples posted here.

The flash is manual... you lift it when you want it. I love my SX-50. I've posted several shots taken with it here on the hog (before I took a tumble that sorta slowed me down on taking pictures). Great camera for the $$$$ in my opinion.

thank you everyone for your replies. Im still sitting on the fence. I currently shoot a Canon 7d and I and not sure if I would be happy with the image quality. I would be using it for when we travel.

IMO, the SX50 is (still) one of the best travel/bridge camera. Considering the 12.1 Megapixel CMOS of the SX50 vs 18 Megapixel APS-C sensor for the 7D, you might not be "happy" with the image quality. But then again, considering the SX50's versalility and price gap, you just might be "satisfied"

Just do a search here for "SX50" and then look at the Photo Gallery topics. Look at as many different users' pics as you can, so that you can truly see what kind of results you can get.

Some recent hand held straight out of the camera (I think my first attempt at showing these went to the wrong thread - sorry Linda)

Good job, Stanley! Looks like you were on the same limb as the bird in #2! Very good!

Take a look at the photos in the link below. Most of Tony's shots are SOOC. He does have a link somewhere to just the photos that were sooc. He is on depreview canon forums under name of cybertony. He and his wife use sx40 and sx50. Just gives you one more comparison to consider.
Personally, I think it is a great travel camera. One of the top photographers in a local camera club bought it just for that purpose. Now he uses it 95% of the time. Because of his great shots, about 10-12 of us in the club bought it.

I'm new to the forum, but thought I would offer my opinion. I bought the SX50 last year, and it has become my "go to" camera. I also have the Canon EOS 40D, with a wide assortment of lenses, which I love...but dragging lenses around can be a bother. I find more and more I reach for my little SX50. It can do it all! I have sold at least 3 friends of mine on it after they see what it can do. It may be a little slow to focus, but I have to say, I love this little camera.
