Most people "love" the one they have invested their hard-earned money into, be it good or bad.
What size are you wanting to print? And do you have a budget you are working with?

Epson. I have a R1900 which is several years old but still putting out superlative prints in sizes up to 13 by 19 inches.

I have 2 Canon printers, a PIXMA Pro 9000 Mk2 that is 3 years old and works great. I just bought a Canon PIXMA Pro 100 a few months ago and it is also a great printer. I got the Pro 100 mainly for B+W prints as it has grey inks and black with 6 color inks. The older one I use for color prints as it has more color inks. Both print up to 13 x 19 in. Love them both.

B&H is running a sale on Pro 100's for a net cost of $98.00 USD. The deal includes a 50 sheet pack of 13x19 photo paper. I know the adage "If it sounds too good to be true ..." Mine arrived in early Jan. and works just peachy, great prints!

When you add the price of the paper and the approximate value of the included ink cartridges, Canon really is making it free or nearly free to try out their Pro-100 printer.

I did, and am very happy with it.

I'm still very happy with my old (and trusted) Epson 3880 pro, it really shines in making B&W prints.

My Epson Artisan 837 puts out beautiful prints up to 8.5x11, plus it's a very capable scanner and is wireless. Ink usage is reasonable. I have no idea what I paid for it.

This seems like a good deal, but I wonder about ink. It takes 8 cartridges that could cost around $136 to replace, more than the printer. Might be good to buy a couple of them just for the ink? LD, where I buy mine, has OEM for $17 each, list is $24

Also, I went to a couple of other ink supply places and couldn't find re-filled cartridges. I have been buying re-fills for years for my printers w/o a problem, and recently went to re-filling my own black cartridges for my Canon MP480, and they work great. If I could do this for the pro 100 I'd already have ordered the printer.

Is the reason I couldn't find refills because this is a new printer, or is there a problem for the suppliers re-filling this printers cartridges? Anyway, printer ink seems to be one of the bigger scams of the computer era.

I guess I should be asking my ink suppler whats up with this one?

You really can't beat the Epson range of photo printers, but stay clear of "all in ones " of any make !

I love my 3880 and when you figure it comes with a full set of ink it's actually very economical. The ink cartridges are very large so they last a long time and volume wise they are cheaper than the small cartridges. One thing about the 3880 though is that you need to be printing with it fairly regularly or it can have issues.

At one time my set idle for about 3/4 year (for various reasons), turned it on after that long and started printing, no issues what's o'ever. Was like it never was turned off. No dried up nozzles, no nothing. I agree, the inks last a long time (I'm on my third set).

I've used and continue to use Epson printers. Understand that Canon is also an excellent choice. My current Epson is a Stylus Photo R3000 which is the best printer I have ever seen. However, it does take a while with some expenditure in ink to get this printer set up to get the output you desire. Cost of ink is rediculous, but I guess this is the price of great prints.

I'm surprised, as the R3000 really isn't a photo printer, like the R2000 for example.
