This morning I took my D4 I got yesterday and went out an shot a few frames to see how it worked.......Great. I got home and sitting in my entry way was a box. I proceeded to open it and inside, yeah you guessed it was a D4.

You did the right thing. If you had kept it, you'd always be looking over your shoulder, wondering when they were going to find their mistake.

I proceeded to open it and inside, yeah you guessed it was a D4. I looked to see who it was from, a company I spoke to about a week ago had sent it out with out charging me. I called the bank to verify. I called the store and told them and nothing but stutter, dead silence and more stuttering. They literally begged me to please return it, they would pay the postage. Big deal. Being the kind of person I am I told them ok, but wanted verification they recieved it and no charging me. I could have kept it, who would know, not my style. This would be almost plausable it not so funny. Yes this really happened and maybe with a little luck you might have it happen to you. If you keep it is up to you..........

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I ordered a Toro push mower online. A few days later 2 large boxes were delivered. I opened the first thinking the mower had come in two boxes and found a brand new, mid range snow blower! The other box contained my mower. I called the company, got a runaround until someone told me to just keep it in the box and they would send someone out to pick it up. I called back 2 wks later and was told the same thing. I waited a month and called again. The person on the other end told me to just hold onto it and they would send someone out for it. Waited 2 more months and called again...same result! So, I just kept it in the box for 1 year and I am now the owner of a really nice snow blower!! I smile every time I use it (a lot this winter!!)
:D

Had something similar happen. I had ordered a used AF 80-200mm F2.8 one touch lens ($400 used), but got a 2 touch lens with tripod mount ($600 used) when the delivery came... Called & was told they had run out of the one touch (slide zoom) & sent the 2 touch (two ring) in it's place... I didn't complain...

I'm not trying to be funny when I say it can cause more trouble than it's worth to return something like that. Someone made a mistake, and returning it could cost him his job. Of course, you make the offer first, but I've heard from people in business that, aside from getting someone in trouble, dealing with the shipping and paperwork is often not worth having the item returned.

This must be the D4 I am waiting for. I have payed for one, they say they have mailed it the day after I sent the payment but I have now waited 3 weeks and no D4 at my doorstep yet. To make things easier for both of us I think you should just mail it to my address. Then we can correct the mistake without getting the guy who made the mistake into more trouble than he already is!

Just joking ;)

Centurylink internet - they installed my DSL with a $99 modem and said they would bill me for it. Bought one for $30 on Ebay a week later and went to return theirs, and they said they had no record of me having it. Figured I'd keep it as a spare, but then found another one at Goodwill for $5. Back to Ebay we go...

Back in the 1920s and 1930s companies would send out products that people did not order and bill them for it. People were a lot more naïve in those days and would often just pay for the item. The Government stepped in and said that if you receive a product that you did not order, IT WAS A GIFT! You were legally entitled to keep the item.

That may not apply if the recipient is in the business because commercial law rather than consumer law applies. If this is right, those of us who are strict amature could keep the D4 with impunity, while professionals would have to send it back or pay for it. Notice I wrote "if" as in not certain some don't beat me up if I'm wrong.

I do. I been a photo but in my retirement using my Canon Sureshot and saving for a Nikon 5500. It not easy as family needs come first so nothing gets saved. But as I would like perhaps a budding photographer would need more. So please kept my name in the running. Thanks.
