Sandisk

Last month, I posted about the fact that one of my Sandisk Extreme Pro, 16Gb cards had failed to format. It would not format in the camera, nor in my PC, nor laptop. So, I contacted Sandisk, as it appeared the Extreme Pro has a lifetime warranty.

It took a bit of paperwork and I had to send a couple photos of the defective card, but today I received my brand new card at no cost to me.

The replacement is a 32Gb card, not 16Gb. I rather suspect this to be a goodwill act on the part of Sandisk, but on the outside chance someone messed up in their fulfillment department, I've contacted them again to let them know I got a 32 instead of a 16.

I wanted to relate this experience as there are many posts about which card to buy, the warranties and the like. Hope this provides a bit of useful info.

Sounds like unthrowing it away worked out well for you.

Congratulations, I would be interested if that is indeed a mistake or a gesture from Sandisk.

Sandisk's service has always been excellent. I have never had a Sandisk item fail, but have customers that did, and they always got proper replacements, except for the ones that proved to be counterfeits.

I've only used SanDisk cards, both SD and CF. I've never had an issue with any of them but great to know that if there is ever a problem SanDisk will stand behind their cards. Thanks for sharing your experience. TNmike

I too use nothing but SanDisk Extreme Pro disks I have had the very best performance with them. Also they are now making the 16gb one In UDMA 7 specs. As opposed to the older UDMA 6 version. I Just pickup one from Percision Photo in Austin Tx for $59.99 it was a special sale.

The response was, "If you received a 32Gb card instead of a 16Gb card, please keep it, if you are satisfied having it."

So, yeah, I'm satisfied. :-)

Carter - Is it true, if you format more often (provided you have copied the pics over to your computer) your card remains in good order.

Another tale of Sandisk. In the melting snow I found a 16gb card. I ran it under water to clear it of the mud, popped it into one of those cheap holder things and inserted into a USB port. There were a number of pictures taken by someone else. No one I recognized. Junk shots. It'll get re-formatted down the road.
