Moving Photos From non-cloud computer to IPad

I have tried moving images to a media card but IPad will not recognize images on card. This computer is pre-cloud. I have tried opening dropbox on the IPad but not sure how to move them into the IPad photo section. Any suggestions? Is there a way that IPad will recognize images moved from a computer to a media card?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Without double checking what I'm saying here......if you have iTunes on the computer you can "add files" to your iTunes library and they should copy to your ipad when you sync.
If all that makes perfect sense, let me know, if not, I'll send a step by step.

Also....I have a little adapter for my ipad that allows me to connect a card reader and I can transfer photos that way.

You will not be able to move photos into the iPad camera roll without accessing the root folders of the iPad. A google search will tell you how this is done. The best way is to create a folder on iTunes and sync this folder to your iPad. Much easier.

I have the iPad2. The only way I have done it is to email the photos as attachments to myself. Then open the email on my iPad and open the attachment. Press and hold on the photo then click on "save image". It will now be in your photos on your ipdad. Do that for each photo.

Actually I was incorrect. You can save to your camera roll via Dropbox. you can open the photos in dropbox, and then look for the option to copy to your library. Dropbox will then put the photo in your camera roll.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood the question. Are you trying to get files from the media card onto the iPad or from the iPad to the media card?

Sorry, but maybe I also misunderstood your question.

Are you trying to get images from your iPad to your computer? From your iPad to a flash drive or memory card? Or are you trying to get images to your iPad from your computer?

As someone mentioned, there is a device you can purchase from Apple whereby you can then transfer photos from a card (or camera) directly into the iPad. It's worth the money and will be more convenient and easier than doing it as you are. :)

Thanks everyone for the answers. The solution was using ITunes. I did have some problems even with this. The non-cloud laptop is only used for workshop presentations. ITunes had not been updated in a while. Trying to update using a slow wifi was difficult. Several time the wifi would loose connection when the update was almost completed.

Thanks again, john

I agree but In order for the iPad to "see" the photos on the card it must be in a folder named "DCIM". Your camera creates this on your card automatically but if you are doing it manually from your computer to your card to the iPad then you need to create that folder. This is the case for IPad 2 and I assume for letter versions also.

Thanks, I did not know this folder was needed. I had tried moving images with a card but they did not show up.
