I received my Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 late Wednesday afternoon. It is as spectacular as I was hoping it would be. I was concerned about AF on my Canon 60D as Sigma's AF is reverse engineered for Canon bodies and there have been issues in the past. But I must say that AF so far is as good, or almost as good, as with any of my Canon lenses. The amazing thing about this lens is that even at f/1.8 at any focal length it seems to be sharp from edge to edge. It only gets better as you stop down. The build is solid like a tank and the zoom and focus ring are exceptionally smooth. It is large and heavy at almost 29 oz, and the limited focal range is not for everyone. For me, it cover around 50-75% of what I shoot. While I also shoot a lot of landscapes where f/1.8 would not be appropriate, I can always stop down to f/8-f/11.

DXOMark tests have shown this lens is as sharp or sharper than virtually every FF fast prime or fast zoom out there, when used on a crop body, regardless of price. They also have also given it a very high overall rating of 25 on a Canon 7D and 28 on a Nikon 7100. It's like having 5 top of the line fast primes rolled into one (and everything in between). In fact the index marks on the zoom ring are at 18, 20, 24, 28, and 35. I've just started playing with it but I'm already happy as a clam. A stunning achievement. I'll post some photos once I become more familiar with it and have something interesting to share.

I agree! I'm running mine on a D7100 and the combo is superb! Mainly landscape but it focuses pretty close also.

Maybe we should start a new forum. "Loving the New Sigma Lenses"

We discuss the lenses and share pictures taken with the lenses OR just pictures of the lenses.

My USB dock is on order. I'm sure I'll need to tweak it a bit.

I'm almost tempted. Problem is I have a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 which makes the Sigma some what redundant.

Yes, I was surprised by the great quality of the close focusing results. Its a bit soft at f/1.8, but stopped down to say f/4, its superb.

It was an easier decision for me because I don't own any fast zooms.

I have the hub for this lens, however on my Nikon D7100 I didn't need to change any settings using the hub.

They're coming. With all the snow and cold up here I haven't had the time or energy to capture something I wanted to share. My wife and I are going to DC for a business conference tomorrow (hers, not mine. I'm retired) and I will shoot with this lens exclusively. I'll upload a few indoor and outdoor images later in the week..
