Poor Picture but it was a 'grab' shot ...

No idea what kind of bird this is - would appreciate an ID.

He/she was at my feeder helping him/herself then flew down to the ground just as I was getting ready to take the shot. This is through a reasonably dirty window (I have dogs who like to make nose prints) and was a grab shot as he flew away about the time the shutter closed.

I've seen a couple of quail around my place during the past 22 years but none as colorful as this one. If indeed it's a Gambel it would definitely be a first.

Thanks!!!

it also looks like , I for get the name but they were the size if a robin and
they only came around in winter . there were about 50 at one time eating
winter apples that fell of the tree and left just for them and the snow robins
I see them out side here the other day going through the leaves .

Yes, it's a Varied Thrush. It's a cousin of the Robin who is also a Thrush.
We have some here too. One of my favorite visitors, although quite shy if they see movement.

As I said first time I've seen one in over 20 years of living here outside Olympia. And you're correct - if I breathed heavily this one jumped :)

Thanks.
