PhotoClub competition topic is "Time". Do you have preference between these two and why? Does one have more impact over the other? thank you.

O.k. You asked for it! I do not like either one of them for a couple of reasons. First, I do not like the color of either one of them. The first one seems to be a photo taken with a camera that has a ccd sensor set on auto WB and under exposed. The 2nd one is the same except that the exposure is slightly longer.

Now understand that this is how it appears to my eye; not that they are really underexposed with a cheap camera or anything.

My biggest beef is that I really hate being clubbed over the head with a not so subliminal message (things that kill over time). I really hate that. Lol.

It could be perhaps that I sit here typing this, I am smoking a cigarette, drinking scotch and I am right now trying to find a good vein.

Seriously, neither one really appeals to me fo any reason. That is just my take. I hope you don't mind.

Pictures are definitely too underexposed. Not overly enthused with the subject. Maybe an airline/bus/train time board w/an expectant relative, or a cuckoo clock shop, or an expectant father waiting for his first child out in the delivery waiting room, or....well, you get the idea.

I like the "old tyme" tone to the first shot. 2nd one looks more contrived with incorrect exposure, or exposure compensation in PP.

Regardless of the 'subject matter' I think that the 1st is defintely the best, but the 2nd is also 'ok' for what you are trying to show.

Well done on #1!!

I like both compositions, although and it has already been commented on, they are both underexposed. If lightened slightly the tonal range could be interesting.
Of the two, I prefer the first photograph, the ashtray and cigarette are better place as is the pair of dice.
If you are trying to portray alcohol, gambling and smoking habits against the clock, you are almost there and the photographs have potential for commercial use with the right slogans. Just lighten both images. In photograph two, move the ashtray to the fore as in one, replace the cigarette and place the dice in it.

I am liking the first one. A few changes. Get the smoke coming from the cigarette, Make the clock set to 12 and raise the brightness a little.
