Milky water

On my first post, I had a number of people saying I should use a faster shutter seep on my water flow pictures. Personally, I like the super silky look and always thought of the look as a goal. The last image, I changed the color a bit and tried a three image HDR. The shadows came out a bit, but the rest of the image seemed to get blurry.

Welcome to the forum. I like the pictures you've posted so far. I look forward to seeing more. Amateur photography is a very personal hobby that should be fun and rewarding for the person taking the pictures. I learn from the example of others but, in the final analysis, always take pictures that are pleasing to me. If you like the soft water look, then go for it and enjoy your pictures. :D

Thanks for the kind words. I asked what people thought because I make my own note cards for work. I did flowers last time and I'm thinking of doing water for my next batch.

Your photos are good but water to me should be natural.

Do you mean a like the top picture or even more stop action (1/500)?

This is a nice photo

Personally, unless the falls is really violent then I prefer the soft silky look. I have worked long to get it to my liking. Many here don't like my silky falls---BUT I DO! I do photography to make ME happy. So I say to you, if you like it that is all that matters.

HDR on nature shots will produce some softness and things tend to move in the breeze. Play with it. You will get some very sharp results. Post more. I like what I see so far.

Yes I prefer #1 but hey it's your choice to take whatever you like don't mind me that's just my own opinion.
Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

Yep- it's all about your personal taste. I really like the silky water, myself. And I cannot do it, yet! So, thank you for posting. I'd love to see #2 in a prettier season, like Autumn or Spring. Can't wait to see what else you have to share!

AWESOME set of flower pics!!

Personally I am not fond of the 'milky' water, as that isn't what it looks like to me when I see it. HOWEVER, many people do like it, and your versions are done very nicely!!
