Hello From Western New York State

Hello from the land of lake-effect snow and (as I write this, a temperature of 11 F) - snow and cold, two technical challenges already. This is a rural area - not all New York consists of New York City. Some residents there think of "upstate" New York as anyplace north of Yankee Stadium. Nearby here are the Finger Lakes and with a little more effort, your in the southern Adirondack Mountains. The northern Adirondacks are my boyhood through young-adult home. So the outdoors and my camera are good friends. Looking forward to your thoughts and comments. :D

Must be darn cold and windy on the top of Mt. Washington about now. The winter weather statistics from up there never fail to amaze. As a youngster in the Adirondacks, one of the 3 (black and white) T.V. stations' signals we could pull in, with the help of a huge antenna, came from atop Mt. Washington - channel 8, WMTW, Poland Spring, Maine.

Mt Washington has been pretty mild so far this year as has the rest of the state. Just last couple of day has seen temps in the 20s or below.

Your photos are very nice...my only critique is one should not center the subjects since it creates a bullseye effect which causes the eye to mostly remain in the middle of the photo. Love the second shot best.

Was the round bales of hay taken near Avon? Used to go camping up near Raquette(?) Lake years ago. Were those falls down near Watkins Glen? I'm originally from the Finger Lakes region - Hammondsport. Welcome

Well come to the group. I grew up in Rochester where I first learned to love photography. Moved to Ithaca as a young adult and then moved to the west coast 35 years ago. Still have many fond memories of New York State. Love your dog photo and hay field. Dont't agree with the comments on your photo's on centering the subject. In these cases it works! Hope to see more of your photo's.
