Score one for weather proofing.
tough little buggers huh...I was just out in 11 degree weather with my em1 this evening...no issues, other than cold fingers.
Yikes. Think I would have stayed in.

Even though some of my cameras can take it I would never do that to them.
That ain't no way to treat a camera! :)
Here's what's so wild about that EM-1... if you take that lens off (and of course cap it and towel dry it immediately) and body cap the camera you can give it a nice warm shower for an hour to make it feel better! No kidding, in one test the camera was in the shower for an hour, standing in an inch of water, and the tester took it out, dried it off and fired it up. It worked perfectly. I've never had to use mine under such adverse circumstances, but it's sure good to know that they are tough, take phenomenal pictures, and are pure quality through and through.
That's indeed very interesting. Whenever I read a review of a camera it saddens me that they don't often talk about the "hour in the shower test". I'm just kidding you. It is amazing that your camera survived and showed no ill effects. I still think I would try to keep it under my coat between shots.
Thank you all for your replies.
First of all, I didn't mean to "do this" to the camera, it just happened. It isn't every year that you get snow in Portland, especially this much. Our short walk turned into an hour, it was really beautiful. At one point I looked down at the camera and saw the accumulation and thought to take a shot with my Iphone. I let it air dry and only 2 small water spots needed a plush micro fiber and a bit of cleaner on the glass and the viewfinder. Looks brand new again. I'd much rather do this than extra heat if I had to choose. I was taking shots too often to keep it under my coat.
Ming Thein's work with the EM-1 speaks for itself. It was actually his review of the camera several months after I saw his photography at an exhibition that finally convinced me to buy it (and it's surrounding system). It'll be the camera I take into the rain forest in Puerto Rico when I go there at the end of March.

To be fare, you can give Ming the cheapest zoom and he ends up with pictures I will never ever be able to create. :-D
PS: Ming ordered 2 of them right after his initial review.

Yes, I saw that! Did you take a close look at those images? They're sharp, composed and exposed totally perfectly. There's a local pro catalog photographer who used to shoot various Nikon Fs for film back in the day. He now only uses the Oly EM-1 (3 of them) for set ups in his studio as well as in the field. By the way, once you shoot with the 12-40 f2.8pro, it'll change your life. I personally love the 75 mm f1.8 on it for closely shot sporting events, as well as some distant portraits, but that baby is eye-cuttingly sharp. The colors and contrast are simply unique with this combo.
