Can any one tell me the difference between the Canon SX50 and the Olympus SP-100EE Stylus? Other than the MP. 12vs16

The lens is a little faster on the Olympus at the wide end. The Olympus does not shoot RAW.

www.snapsort.com will list out the specifications side by side.

Thank you. What is the opinion in regards to being tack sharp? Which one is better?

The olympus hasn't been released yet, so who knows, but I doubt that they would release a camera that wasn't tack sharp.

Olympus has 'fixed' LCD vs the SX50's fully articulated LCD
Oly doesn't shoot RAW
Oly doesn't have Hot Shoe

All deal breakers for me...... Just sayin'
And the SX50 is proven technology, the "dot sight" on the Oly is a new 'gimmick'

I've had no less than 10 Olympuses, as well as 6 Canons, 2 Sonys, 1 Fujifilm and 0 Nikons, and I can unequivocally tell you from first hand experience that Olympuses ARE TACK SHARP. In this class of camera, I'm not saying that Canons aren't tack sharp either, I am saying that I've never had a single issue with any of my Olympuses (nor Sonys, for that matter), but have had niggling little problems with the Canons. Having said that, the SX50 is a proven winner! It's simply a great camera in its own right, so just know you can't go wrong with it either. My friends who've had Nikons in this class have had several problems, which is why I've steered clear. My recommendation is get the best Olympus you can afford and go use it a lot. They are very fun and extraordinary cameras.

Fix LCD not a problem. I shoot Canon 7D.
Raw: I'm not big on raw because I am not real comfortable the PP.
NO HOT Shoe. Big problem. Does that mean no light speed?
Yeah I agree on the Dot sight. Gimmick.

What I was looking at was the I didn't have to pack around extra lenses. Good for traveling.

SX50 articulating LCD makes low, close to ground or high, over-head shots much easier, plus it allows me to eliminate glare from the sun no matter where I am taking pictures.
Hot shoe---- "Does that mean no light speed" -- not sure what you mean here, but there is no provision for external flash on the Oly, so would have to use an optical slave, where the SX50 with the hot shoe allows an external flash either on the camera or using a flash extension cable with full TTL capability.

RAW for me is also a 'non-issue' especially since the camera captures JPG-Fine that are equal to anything that I could come up with from the RAW files!!

If you don't need the monster zoom, the xz-2 is a sweet deal right now($299). The IQ from that camera is outstanding.

CD, I was just looking at that vs the Stylus 1 (which goes to 300mm). It's less than half the price and has all the goodies, and no dot focusing gimmick. Plus, it's even more portable.

I can live without the fully articulated LCD but the hot shoe and RAW have become a necessity for me.

Since they both of the same size sensor, it will be interesting to see the low light results with the extra 4 mp.

I have no doubts that the Oly is a good camera, but I'll stitch with my SX50 for one.

If you already have the SX50 then you should be all set as far as super-zoom compacts go, that's for sure.
