For those of you who believe turkeys can't fly.

The only similarities between domestic turkeys and wild turkeys is their genetics. After that, nothing is the same. Domestic turkeys can't fly nor can they run fast. Wild ones, on the other hand, fly very well and can run at breakneck speed.
Yesterday morning I set out for the Cranberry to visit with the little ones. I was met by the 'Cranberry Gang'. This is an unruly group of male turkeys getting ready for next month when they'll be entering the breeding season and this group of bachelors will no longer be friends.
Due to a recent snowfall I was breaking trail through a foot of snow so I was the only one there.
I had chosen to put my 70-300MM 'L' lens on the 7D, a combination I generally don't use but this time it paid off.
The lens was set at 70MM when I saw a male come in from the right, very low and barely skimming the snow. I panned it in the viewfinder and pulled the trigger. Thankfully the settings were correct for this shot. This might be the most satisfying action shot of the new year.

That's the word I was looking for - even if it was right place / right time - still counts!

One of those very special once in a lifetime shots. Many don't realize how truly difficult it is to achieve such a 'perfect image'. IQ for a BIF is outstanding. Love it!!!!
