I don't know if you're familiar with Freddy Jones of the Buffalo Bills but he is far from a D3 player even though he played for a small midwestern college that doesn't offer athletic scholarships. Other D1 schools such as UNI has a relatively successful football, basketball and wrestling programs but still did not generate enough revenue to support it's baseball program so it was dropped. Football revenues while offering substantial support to many universities does not provide that same support across the board. If you look at the cost of a college degree today I think these kids getting a full ride are getting paid pretty well. I will add that if they were allowed to work or get some kind of spending allowance I could get on board with something like that but turning these programs into professional athletic programs is going beyond what the typical school can handle and I would hate to see the athletic programs destroyed especially in the smaller institutions which I believe would happen.
I don't know if you're familiar with Freddy Jones ... (show quote)

I believe Fred Jones went to Colorado State, a D2 school. He was by definition, then, a D2 player at that time. I am not advocating that FCS, D2 or D3 players be paid. I AM advocating that the NCAA pay its money-generating stars a salary. I am further convinced that the courts will eventually agree with Kain Colter on that position.

It won't destroy the other programs, it will just put the BCS programs in a different category.

I'm sorry I meant Fred Jackson.
