I think your w/b might be off a little. Everything appears to have a really blue tint to it.

Was it your intention to have the blue tint so dominate?

There were no intentions to make it very blue. I probably need an adjustment of some sort, Although I do like the photo's. I am not 100% sure of all the settings. It is hard to see what is happening at the moment the display is too small to get the full effects.

I have the same camera and love it. Stop at the bookstore or library and pick up Nikon D3000 From Snapshots to Great Shots by Jeff Revell. It was a great source for learning the ins and outs of my camera and basics for achieving certain effects. I found it explained things better than my manual did.

The OP says he has a D300. The D3000 books will be of no use to him.

i second opals sugestion of a book but recomend the magic lantern guide for the d-300. if you are missing a manual go to nikonusa.com click on downloads scroll down untill you hit the d-300 and download the manual in pdf form. if you don't have a pdf reader you can download one for free ar adobe .com on the left side of your camera should be a dial that list PSAM and on the dial it should say wb. turn your camera on then set to wb using your command dial select A for auto balance. dont forget to switch the exposure dial back to psa or m whatever you shoot. when you download your manual look at setting a white balance by using a white card.
