I'm new to register here and I have been reviewing it for a couple of months now. The photography bug has bitten me and I've been reading and learning quite a bit from this site. I'm really impressed by the amount of information here.
I have been taking photos with a Panasonic ZS7 P&S for the past year and learning how to use the manual controls. I'm now looking to upgrade to probably the Canon 60D but have heard that they may have soft focus problems from a few links I found. Anyone here have any issues with this?
My budget is better fit for the T3i but I like the features of the 60D better. I also like the low image quality of the Nikon D5000 and the compactness of the Panny GX1 but don't know if the 4/3 quality is that of a DSLR yet. I enjoy trying to capture wildlife and the challenge of taking low light photos. I welcome your suggestions and feedback. BTW, I'm looking at bestbuy's sale of the 60D for $1104.99
LOL, This hobby can consume a lot of your time.

Wildlife and low-light shots will depend a lot on the quality of the glass out front. Nearly every modern DSLR out of the very low budget entry-level consumer strata will be perfectly adequate. "How does it feel in your hands", "are there WORTHWHILE bundles on sale", are useful questions to ask yourself.
We have several members here who haunt the bayou country, including the ever-present Ms Rachel.
Have fun.
Welcome to the group LSU-Man.
I'm Northeast of BR in The Felicianas (well some of the time at least)
A friend of mine who got me into this said "photography is a great rat hole. You can throgh money down it and it never fills up." I have found that to be sooo true, but it is great to share memories.
Rocco, Any photography clubs in our area you can suggests? I appreciate everyone's feedback!

Greater New Orleans Camera Club (
www.gnocc.org) which i think is based in Marrerro.
West Bank Camera Club (
www.westbankcameraclub.org)

Lafayette Photographic Society
(
lafayettephtographicsociety.org, obviously based in Lafayette
If you're into nature photography, check out C.C. Lockwood's website. He runs 3 photo field trips per year into the Atchafalaya Swamp. Theyre inexpensive and he is a guru who's been photographing that area since 1973.
Hope some of this helps.

Check out the Nikon D5100 - it is an improvement over the D5000 and there are some great bundle deals available right now. Welcome!
