These are certainly no ordinary family snapshots. For some of the photos, a carefully placed reflector and/or external flash unit was obviously utilized. I have no doubt that these photos are the handiwork of a highly experienced professional.

This is the first time I have seen these pictures. I'm sure glad I don't have to compete locally with whomever did the shots. Earlier on a c/c I was criticized for not shooting the face of the subject. Many of these are fantastic because they were taken from the back. My point made, you don't have to always show the face to tell a story. Well worth the time looking at this site.

If you would like to know more about the person that took these photos, google her name: Elena Shumilova, you will find 400,000 entries.
One listed below has an interview with her. She might be consider a fairly new but talented photographer. See interview here:

just looked at this site and now I have doubts about the story that goes behind the pictures. There is no doubt that the pictures are good, but it has the smell of a photo mill. You stated she has 400,000 entries, that's at 100 pictures a day over 10 years of work 24/7 plus the time to process. We just went through a UHH member who makes a living stealing others works. Not saying this lady is stealing, but she isn't working alone in a rustic Russian cottage in the back woods either.

The 400,000 entries were in the Google search, the number of articles about her, not pictures. She actually has very few pictures on that site for sale. Her minimum price that I saw was $159. for a print.

That's different than what I first thought you said. Its still hard to believe she mastered photography as quick as she did, but who knows. The pictures are awesome.
