I just bought a Nikon d5100. Big learning curve for me. Drove up Lamoille canyon, not expecting to get any great pics. I thought all of the sheep had died off with pnemonia. Within a few feet of the rd, 2 females. I shot a bunch (free hand) of pics. Love digital. Hit the button as much as I want at no cost for film. It was a dreary day and I am not knowledgable enough yet to put some pazazz to them.

So you got lucky but mother nature wasn't helping much. The composition on these photos is great. You mentioned it was a dreary day. The photos look flat so I boosted the contrast just a little and the color saturation just a bit. I used my NX2 Nikon photo processing software. Don't you have it. I think it comes with Nikon cameras. You were so lucky to photograph these animals I might want to go back on a sunnier day. Of course there are those in Ugly H that can make sunny out of dreary. Yep

I am 69 years old with bad knees and ankles. I took these from the road. I am lucky in as much as most of the sheep herd died off because of pnemonia.
