Welcome to UGLY your skills will develop rapidly when you start posting photographs and see what everyone else has to say about them. The big thing in my opinion is that the person you have to please / impress most is yourself. The help comes mainly in overcoming technical problems and also helping the rest of us also by showing pictures that we had not contemplated doing ourselves. I get lots of inspiration daily and are in awe from many of the great photographers who contribute regularly.
