"New" Canon SX1 IS

I just ordered a factory refurbished Canon SX1 IS for a pretty good price--awaiting arrival. I know it burns through AA batteries, but I borrowed one a while back & liked it, so I took a chance. Any thoughts that I might need to know about?

For one...rechargeable batteries. Enjoy your new camera.

That one I'm aware of. I plan to have a couple of sets ready upon arrival.

Thanks, JM

My wife shots with one of those and her photos are sharp even at full telephoto. Only three cons are the batteries, the lens caps doesn't like to stay on and the battery/memory stick cover is awkward for her to deal with; other than those minor things, she loves it.

Eneloop batteries hold their charge very well.

I've had one since I went to Hilo in 2009. It's the one camera I won't sell. I use Energizer Lithium batteries which seem to last quite a while. I'd say something about image quality, were it not for the fact that I possess the unofficial Guinness record (the beer record, not the book record) as the Northern Hemisphere's worst photographer. That's because I've never been to the Southern Hemisphere. When I go, I'm sure to pick up the World's record. My sister and SWMBO have both used the camera and do very well with it. The only disadvantage is the inability to use filters, a problem I've solved with a collection of "A" sized Cokin filters and a universal Cokin bracket. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure.

I finally got rid of all my old ni-cads, so now I'll have to start replacing the non-Eneloops.

I've seen others that used a tennis ball, etc. What they don't show is the guy standing to the side with the remote in his hand. :D
