Ace - here they are again. Nothing is cropped. Have opened the bushes and tree tops the best I know how - a small dodge brush. I don't want them to look unnatural. They were silhouetted to begin with as light was low..

I have followed your series of sunset shots Pat....they are beautiful....and love the silhouetted tall tree shot....you moved well given the amount of time you had to work with. It is a beautiful sky with those beautifully lit up clouds!

Hello Everyone, Haven't been on for a while, but thought I would try my hand at this challenge.. All photos taken with an Olympus Pen PL1 camera. I used two DIY made grids for the effects and auto contrast in Picasa.

pg 7. These are lovely Sheeba....but can't wrap my brain around what DIY stands for (Do It Yourself?). And if so, how do you do that?

And now for the dreaded snapshot.

I didn't take this. Somebody grabbed my P&S canon Christmas morning but I did the edit.

Crop to make the subjects larger, Clone out some extra stuff and some nasty hi-lites in the tiles, blur the stuff on the mantel , the eyes in the photos were distracting - and an attempt to get rid of the shadowing along the camera left of my granddaughter's face.

also a wee adjust on her very fair complexion and a sharpen.

pg 9. This was beautifully captured dansmith! Love your edit.....and love the concentration on your face to assemble the toy and the sheer anticipation of joy on your granddaughter's face.

Ok here goes:

manual
f/8
1/250
ISO-1000
46mm

I took this at Thanksgiving in Rockport, TX on a bright sunny day. I was just starting to teach myself to shoot in manual and I had the ISO set wrong...oops, still learning. The first image is straight out of camera. The 2nd one was adj in Photoshop CC, I adj the exposure with Curves then used the HDR toning filter sliders until I liked the image, but felt it still needed some definition and depth. Duplicated and saved. Opened the 3rd image in Photoshop Elements and used the Comic filter sliders until I liked what I saw.
Ok here goes: br br manual br f/8 br 1/250 br IS... (show quote)

pg 9. I love the Comic filter for this shot CHuckle's.

Yesterday we had a good powder snowfall with wind and this becomes a photographer's dream. This 10-mile loop is my playground and during times like yesterday there is a plow working as long as the winds persist and within 20 minutes the road can become impractible.

#1 is straight out of the box
#2. is the product of Lighroom
temp: +13
exposition: -0.12
Recuperation: 12
Fine light: 29
Brightness:+36
Contrast: +25.
Clarity (the problem*) +28
Vibrance: +8
Saturation -7
* When converting a Clarity worked photo to HDR, there is a lot of noise when it is raised.

#3 is HDR and I posted it simply to show the noise.
Yesterday we had a good powder snowfall with wind ... (show quote)

pg 10. Great shot RR. Thanks for the lesson. I notice some noise in your first edit too?....and too have noticed noise when I have added light and clarity, especially in the sky that has clouds.
