Taken in San Diego. Depth of field too narrow - tail out of focus. F stop set at 5.6 probably should have been around 9. That's what you get when you let the camera think for you in lieu of making your own decisions

I don't think the depth of field is too narrow. Duck is a real beauty. Nice shot. Some of these camera's are pretty darn smart. LOL

Yes they are but when you are in the program mode they want to select the widest aperture to get the shutter speed faster and the wider the aperture the shallower the DOF. I do like manual mode but that is not so great if you need to act fast to get a shot although that guy was not moving all that fast

Don't think it's an eider, maybe some kind of mallard hybrid.
