Photography Blog has put out its 2013 Camera of the Year Award, the Sony A7R:

It also awarded the Canon 70D as its DSLR of the Year:

What are your thoughts about these cameras? Do you agree or disagree? Would you have given the award to a different camera? If so, which one and WHY?

The biggest problem I see with the SONY 7 series is the pricing of the lenses..One may be able to purchase a "body" for only $2300, but wait until they begin buying lenses that are priced so "over-the-top", that most of us mortals may have to resort to using it as a "pin-hole" device sans lens.

Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like this camera in concept, but I only see a few money-making pros and well-healed amateurs being able to build it into a useable system.

Just my 2cents..

For every site that names a camera, their camera of the year, there's another site that names a different one camera of the year...

The lenses are a huge issue for me on the A7...I darn near bought one, but I would have had to sold everything to buy a couple of lenses to go with it...and I don't really need FF. I'll leave those giant files to the pros.

I also thought about the 70d as my friend shoots canon, but then I thought, why do I want to lug around a camera that I won't take with me everywhere because of the size of the body and lenses....been there done that.

They are both great cameras, but for me the choice was neither one...it really does come down to personal taste at this point.
