I was close to this Bald Eagle who seemed to strike a regal-like pose.

Nice photo Regis and a very regal pose.

BTW, there is a great review on Tamron's new 150-600 lens with tons of photos at "dustinabbott.net" you might want to check out...he is very high on this new lens.

Not yet. Sometime today, probably in the late afternoon.
I keep watching out for the UPS truck with much anticipation.

Thank you and thank you for this information. My Sigma 50-500mm lens is going to be hard to beat but Tamron (I have several of their lenses) is a good quality company.

Great shot Regis. You mentioned you just got the Sigma 50-500. I took some shots a couple weeks ago in Big Sur, California of a California Condor with a 70-200 lens and wasn't satisfied with it so I just purchased the Sigma 150-500 lens from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow. Though they are a bit different, is there anything you can tell me about your Sigma lens I should be aware of? I have a Nikon body.

Both the Sigma 150-500mm and the 50-500mm have the same resolution. The 150-500mm lens weighs about 4.1 lbs. and the 50-500mm weighs about 4.3 lbs so the weight might be a problem for some people but not for me. It takes a little getting used to. All my wildlife shots are handheld, so at 70 years old if I can do it then most younger people will do OK. Of course anybody can use a monopod or tripod with the lenses.
Focusing is fairly fast. The lens is well built and should last a lifetime. I did have the Sigma 150-500mm for 3 years and did not have any problems and is in excellent condition. So, no major concerns for this great lens except for the weight.
