Hi everyone. My name is Gina. I am pretty new to DSLR photography, just 2 years in. I live between San Francisco and San Jose. I am 45 min from the Ocean and 4 hrs from Yosemite. Needless to say, I am finding it hard to put my camera down. My current camera, a Canon 60d, is in need of cleaning. But, I can't stand the thought of not having a camera within arms reach and I am not completely satisfied with the 60d. What is my best move? (I am assuming that if I get a second body it will be a Canon because of my lens investment. I am also assuming that I will be upgrading.)

Welcome Gina! Decades ago I lived on the other side of the bay. San Francisco is still my most favorite city in the U.S.

Can't help with your camera choice as I have the Rebel T3i.

Hope you have fun on this site, looking forward to your images!

Thanks for the welcome Linda. I love it here too. I transplanted from Ohio 13 years ago. Can't imagine ever wanting to move away.

Go for the Rebel, ya can't go wrong as a very practical second camera. I have two of them in addition to my 60D.

I use a T4i and an T1i so lens fit both. Always carry my point and shoot (Pentax Optico RZ18) just in case there is a photo op handy. Wife keeps a Nikon Coolpix handy in her purse.

I agree, the 60d is a good camera. I am sure that is my inexperience speaking, with regard to satisfaction. While I can see the benefits of buying the same camera body, I just assumed that I'd go ahead and plan for the future.

Wow, the Rebel seems a popular choice. I offered to take a picture for a couple using their Rebel. It felt lighter than my 60d and not as solid. I suppose my best option is a hands-on visit at a local shop.

....and if you like a touch screen the T4i abad above have it. To me a great feature especially when shooting from a tripod at night

There are many Canon Models but budget plays the big role . I just bought a Canon 5D Mark III . I shoot both Nikon and Canon and early see any difference in quality of the two systems . Handle a camera in a good store and talk to clerks .
