In High School, before I went to the Navy, my friend and I skydived. This was before tandem jumping was invented. It was also before the really nice rectangular parachutes with brakes were invented. I did 6 jumps (static line but you still drop a good amount) and each jump got progressively worse. My mind just couldn't wrap itself around falling from over 4 thousand feet. I loved after I knew the chute was open and okay. There has nothing in my live that has come close to that feeling. My first jump was at dusk so the sun was going down, You could see down town Denver and the mountains. It was beautiful. I'll tell you what, the military round chute drops you like a stone. I hit the ground so hard, rolled like they teach you, and thought I had broke my back... LOL. And did it 5 more times. How dumb is that!? At least I can say I did it. The sport has come a long way. Cheers.
