Just playing with my new T4i... The first was my very first test shot. This thing is a mascot, sort-of. Someone gave him to me years ago, and he just sort of stuck around.
Actually, with a decent background, this chap would make a good avatar...
The others were taken in the church parking lot across the street. If I see decent clouds on my way home from work, I can grab the camera and dash across there.
They aren't exactly world-class, but I like the look of them. I have yet to try out the longer lenses. I was planning a trip to the park today, but we have windchills of around 9 degrees, so I think that will have to wait...

I do like the mascot, and super sky photos, You have the balance between the darker trees and the clouds perfectly. I'm waiting to see more with the other lens, what other ones do you have? Cheers, Nancy J
Cute mascot, gorgeous clouds.
Before the super-zoom SX50 came into my life, I enjoyed the Canon Rebel XT, and now the T3i, very much. Have fun!
Great pics with the sky popping like that.

Having some fun again?

These were shot with the EFS 18-55 IS II. I also have the EFS 55-250 IS II - I'm guessing that these are the original kit lenses. Also, the EF 75-300 III - that one without the IS. I really want to get out there and use them, but I am a wimp, and the windchill has now climbed all the way to a balmy (!) 11 degrees.
I do love sky photos!

Oh yes... I have to admit, I have been having fun ever since I bought the SX50, and I have no intention of letting that one go. I have been wanting to get back into the slr world for some time though, and this particular offer was too good to pass up. I want to try out some time-lapse stuff, and also some astro too, and these are areas that the SX doesn't handle too well. Not complaining - if it were engineered to do all that too, it would cost a whole lot more money!
I can't wait to get back to my local park, but the temps have to rise quite some way above what we have now before that will happen!

Nice! Keep shooting. As long you're enjoying yourself, you're doing it right.

Thanks. I should also say that these pics have very minimal PP done to them. I cropped the mascot to get rid of some ugly background, and the sky shots just have some fine-tuning of the exposure/balance stuff. The camera did a great job all by itself
Even in winter, it well worth going outside for taking photos.
BTW, I used to play trombone also.

There are quite a few trombonists on here! I started in high school, back in 67, which is hard to believe. I spent a few years in a (British) army band before the soldiering got to be too much of a pain - literally! I have played in a few town/community bands, but these days I pretty much play it once or twice a year in church and that is pretty much it. I can't bring myself to give it up completely, but I don't have the discipline to practice regularly. Or at all, come to that!
As far as the weather goes, I am a wimp. I have poor circulation, and my hands and face start to freeze up. I want to enjoy my picture-taking, and if I am in pain, I am not enjoying it too much. I can handle the 30s, but when it gets down to single digits, I stay indoors as much as I can!
Time for you to come out to Arizona. We have had an unusual stretch of wonderful weather: low 70's in afternoons to mid-40's at night for the last month. However, it gets hotter that you know what in August.
BTW I put the trombone up and now play my Clavinova.
