I caught this ibis on the lake this morning and do not know what he is preparing for breakfast! Any answers out there?

Those are crawfish, crawdads or freshwater lobster depending on where you are from

Some people in Louisiana call them "mud-bugs".

Not only good for them but very tasty to us too, boiled with spices one can find them in many chinese resturants and some places even have crawfish boils where huge pots of freshly boiled crawfish and assorted side dishes are there for your eating delight.
Popeye's chicken will have fried crawfish tails on special now and then and it is great, a bit spicy but thats what its all about.

thank you! I thought it looked lobster-like! the ibis and other birds are usually eating clams and I haven't seen this before! M
