I think i may have goofed! Does it make a difference which disc you install first? I installed what i thought was disc number 1, the one marked 'Windows', which i am running.
Then it says to install disc number 2, marked "Mac OS", which i did. The instructions on disc 2 don't make any sense to me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sounds like the instructions for disc 1.
I think i may nave done this backwards, i'm not really sure. In fact, i don't understand why i would need to install anything for Mac OS if i'm running Windows.
I don't know,,,,,,,,,,,,,i'm really confused. Anyone here that can help me? Thanks, Tom
If you are running Windows, do NOT install the Mac version :)

As Linda said, you were only supposed to install the one for Windows. They put 2 discs in the package, one for Windows and one for Macs.
Did you complete the install for Windows before you started with the Mac version? If not, you may have to uninstall everything and start over. Hide the Mac disc ;)

Go to the "uninstall programs" section of your control panel to uninstall if you need to.

Yes, i completely installed the Windows version and restarted my computer as it said to do.

And did you start the Mac install after you restarted following the Windows version. If so, you may only have to uninstall the Mac version. You can have multiple versions of elements on your computer. Hoping that holds true for multiple os versions.
If not, then you will need to follow Linda's directions and uninstall everything and start over. Good luck

Yes i did, but i just closed it by 'X' ing out of it when it didn't make any sense. I just now imported my photos from all my files, about 1500 of them, and it seems to be doing o.k. so far. I recall seeing an 'uninstall' option somewhere in the Mac version, but it said if i uninstalled it, then i couldn't use it again if i decided to get it back.
I guess this keeps someone else from using the serial number, i'm not sure. Anyway, i'm going to try using it and see what happens, i think i may be o.k. Thanks everyone for your help, and i didn't mean to be so dumb, lol!
No need to apologize; we've all been there :) Hope it works out for you. I bought PSE 12 about a month ago and am really loving it. My first of this series.

Hmmm.....if it ain't broke don't fix it. So as long as it is working, all is good.
I am not on my laptop at the moment. But I thought you got more than one install. But unless it becomes a problem, looks like you are good to go.
Glad it all worked out. Hope you enjoy it. There is a lot to learn, but it is an excellent program. I am in the learning phase myself.
He must secretly want a Mac!!!

I just received my PS12 in the mail today and was going to install it this evening but decided not to. Glad I read this post first. Now I know that if it prompts me for the second disc I won't put it in. I wonder why it tells you to?

You should be fine. I personally never saw that statement. However, it does ask you if you want to download a 30 day trial of Elements Premier.
If you read the box, it is pretty clear that you install the os version that you use. The discs are clearly marked. For Mac and for Windows.
We all make mistakes at times, we misread something or get in a hurry and click on the wrong thing, etc. just be sure to take your time and read the install instructions completely.

The boxed version of Photoshop Elements 12 comes with 3 discs. Use disc 1 if you are installing this program on Windows; use disc 3 if you are using this program on Mac.
Disc 2 is just a trial version of Premiere Elements 12 (the video-editing program). It is the Windows version only. You don't need to install it if you don't want to.

It didn't prompt me to online, it was in the instruction booklet that came with it.
