Wasp with its new nest close-ups

I shot this sequence this morning when I found a new wasp nest on the eaves of my roof. What I found fascinating about the sequence is that it is the first time I have actually seen eggs in the chambers of a nest. When I first got there, there were two wasps, but one flew away. I guess I can presume it was the mate of the remaining one.

Pedalmasher, very nicely done. What lens did you use, and what were the settings?

Thanks rszer! I used my Canon 100 f2.8L macro lens. The settings ranged from f5.6, 1/160, ISO 1250 for the face closeup up to f14, 1/160 ISO 5000 for the one with the deeper DOF to show off the eggs. Awkward shooting on a ladder in a corner.

Thanks Ron, Stephie, Jim & David. Here are two interesting shots I just discovered. I went outside to close my garage door and there were two of them working on the nest. I never realized that wasps work together like that. I need to do some research!

Just did some research - I guess the second wasp is a worker:

Thanks, I can't wait to get more into macro work. Of course ideally, handholding is not exactly the best way to shoot macro and I was handholding and trying to balance on a ladder. Did you check out the two I just added? I'm off to do some research in that I never knew that wasps work together like that.
