My poor dog got cheated this afternoon. I was taking my dog for a walk awhile ago and we were in a rather secluded area. I looked up, and there at eye level was a beautiful red-shouldered hawk. I did a speed walk home with the dog, grabbed my camera, hurried back to the spot hoping the hawk was in no hurry and the result was about a hundred hawk shots. Here is a sampling.

Thanks Chase & Kitty - the dog can always go for a walk - how often can you get that close to a wild hawk? :)

Your lucky day. Mainly when birds of prey see something aiming at them they take off. Great pictures.

Nice pics.
Glad the hawk waited.
We had a "huge" female red tail in our yard two days ago.
Seems she staked out the bird feeder and caught a squirrel.
She wouldn,t wait for me though.
She was only 15 feet from my back door.

Awesome shots!! I took some pics this morning of what I thought was a hawk...I found out it was an immature bald eagle. Such a rush seeing the big birds!

I could not believe it as I was walking along with my dog and looked and saw this hawk staring at us probably 15 feet away. I never dreamed he would stay there while I did the mile round trip on foot to bring the dog home and grab my camera. He flew to a couple of other locations, but allowed me to approach him there also, but these were lighted by a beautiful setting sun so I posted these out of the tons that I shot of him!

Wow, that would have been one heck of a shot, but typically when those arise, I am sans camera! Probably like most of us.

Thanks Elliern, I got so many I had a difficult time even deciding which to post. I love those kinds of problems! :)
