Went out Lock and Dam 14 on the Mississippi River in Le Claire, IA. Lots of eagles and I found out there is eagle tailgating!

Nikon D7000 Big Sig. Manual, with manual focus (most of the time). F/6.3 SS 1/640 500mm ISO 100. Tripod with gimbal head.

Not as sharp on the download as I want but I'm always up for critique and criticism.

The van was there so there is a possibility. The shop was open but honestly, Danielle lives in Chicago and only comes in for taping because she can't get any work done with autograph hounds popping in constantly. Mike tends to stay in Iowa at times but has a beautiful home in Nashville that he adores. Frank has a serious girlfriend and he lives in the Davenport area. I know Mike has a suite above some of the shops that are downtown but in this weather I'd be out of Iowa.

Suggest you try Aperture Priority with aperture at about 6.3 and ISO locked at about 1,000. This will give you a fast shutter. This how I shoot eagles at lock 14. See my photos posted earlier.

Tom were you there Jan 11 and 12? A very nice gentleman (maybe you) was helping my niece that was with me and suggesting Aperture priority. I messed up and didn't set her camera up appropriately for her level before we started in.

No, I was there the 4th and 5th. Am returning tomorrow. The wind is forecast from the west which means they will be taking off into our lenses. And there is supposed to be afternoon sun.
