This is a private road on the grounds of Evergreen Plantation along the Mississippi River in Vacherie, La. There is a locked gate across the road to keep the tourist out. The road is visible from River Road LA 18 so taking pictures is not a problem. There was a light fog with very overcast skies requiring a high ISO. I plan on going back on a sunny morning with hopes of catching sun rays across the road.

Thanks Mallardo, There as so many here in South Louisiana we take them for granted. I know a guy who has one in his front yard that was test and found to be 500+ years old.

That's one if my favorite things about that part of the state. Up here, it's mostly Southern Pine. Those Oaks are just awesome. Especially when they have the Spanish Moss hanging from them. They just speak "Louisiana". :)

You just know Forrest Gump is setting in one somewhere waiting for his beloved Jenny.

Does this mean you can't drive up to the plantation? This is a very nice shot by the way.

I really like this example of a tree tunnel.
