Great shots of a beautiful granddaughter
Thanks Daniel Z. I know I'm biased (I'm the Gpa), but I think she has beautiful skin color and such a pretty face.

Normally look along the line the nose is pointing to... you will find it gives a better balance to the photo... You did get away with it ( I like it ) but sometimes the whites dominate and take away from the colour so just a general rule you take with a pinch of salt if it looks good in the viewfinder.
Its hard photographing family because no matter what my grand daughter looked like (Finger up her nose) I find every picture perfect.... The grand parent in us...
Love the Fergus comment above

OK JoboX. Sounds good. I thank you so much for your valuable input!

Actually I still like the one with the trees framing her face. It seemed to bring the focus to the beautiful face and smile
Yes ExTech2. I agree with you. I always like the trees framing her face. I was just afraid that it might distract the viewers eyes from the main subject. Thanks for your help!

Very nice indeed and pretty! My only C&C would be you might have picked a more subtle background rather than the bright sky. It tends to make your eye go to the brightest spot... the sky.
You're on the right track, keep it up.
Yes Jimmya. It seems that the washed out sky grabs the eye instead of the subject. Thanks for your input!
Why crop so severely. I would think down to the waist would be more attractive.

My favorite, by a wide margin, is your Photo2. The backgrounds in the edited versions are too contrived; one looking like a storm was blowing in, the other looking like you were going for infinite DOF.
Trust your own instincts; you chose the tree and the dangling foliage for a reason, and that reason showed good judgment. I don't like blown out skies, but a blown out sky is only a problem when that's what your viewer is looking at. In your Photo2, your granddaughter is clearly the subject of the image.

Thanks your input rdgreenwook! I really do like #2 as well. And, I did choose the shot because of the framing that it gave to her. So, I feel good about that! Thanks again!
Nice to have you back, Photogirl!

My first attempt at a portrait. C & C welcome. Too bad the wind blew her hair just a bit too much.
Great picture of a very picture girl.

I meant a very pretty girl.
I like #2 but I like using trees a lot.
