I would be interested to know how any of you with:
- multiple cameras
- multiple lenses
- multiple flashes
- multiple batteries to keep charged
- etc.
are able to keep them organized and stored when not in use. I enjoy photography as a hobby but I'm looking for a better way to keep organized than having multiple camera bags with various items stored in each one. I may need to retrieve specific lenses or adapters or other things for certain outings and it's difficult remembering where everything is located. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheap Ikea cabinet. Organized by system. One shelf, one system. Some lenses stay in hardcases on the floor due to size.

I have a Lowepro Backpack that I keep my 5 lenses, batteries, cards, extension tubes, and other misc stuff in. I have 2 flash units that are on a shelf next to the backpack with other misc stuff that wont fit in the backpack. I have a small camera bag that I normally carry with the lenses I think I might use.

My normal bag is a Tamrac Expedition 6x.
2 full size bodies, 3 additional lenses, batteries, memory cards, flash w/external battery pack, ExpoDisc, LumiQuest softbox, off-camera flash cable. Everything mentioned stays in there, except when being used.
If I need anymore than that, then the vault w/wheels (containing more speedlites and battery packs), or the travel container (with studio strobes) comes out.

I keep my equipment on shelves in a storage closet. Bodies on one shelf, lenses on another, flash, remote triggers and manuals on a third and misc items that I occasionally need on a fourth shelf. A fifth shelf holds my wife's equipment which I'm not allowed to touch.

all my photo equipment is within 4 ft. of my computer. i have 3 plastic boxes,2 back pack bags, and 4 over the shoulder bags. pentax 645d plus lenses, batterys, and teleconverter in one backpack. sony a-850 plus batterys, cf cards, and extra lenses.in a shoulder bag .all are in grab and go condition.

Pelican cases seem to be the best. I keep everything packed up to help avoid dust.

I made this...a friend has a friend who can get these cases for free. You could drive a car over them they are so strong...but light as well and also have a water proof seal and can be padlocked if needed.
I bought the foam and cut it to suit.
These pics show my D90 and some lenses but as I have now bought a D7100 and have more lenses, my friend just gave me another one so when I get the chance I'll fit that out as well. It sits on my office floor but is small enough to pop in the top of the wardrobe if necessary...
I looked at the commercial ones but they have that break away foam in them and I thought it was far too soft and could be easily broken, especially when getting my Bigsig in and out.

They are just one of many similar cases available...I Googled "high impact plastic cases for photography gear" and found there are many different sizes/styles you can buy (sadly we don't all have access to free ones)
I purchased the high density foam from our local rubber store and fitted it myself.
My case comes from OS and is used to transport delicate equipment for some defence programme...the company in question throws them away by the thousands but luckily a few escape...LOL

For multiple camera systems I divide it up by brand. I put Nikon lenses in one drawer. I keep Fujifilm lens in another case (I have way fewer Fujifilm lenses). I keep the camera bodies in separate cases, the main Nikon in a Pelican, a secondary Nikon in the drawer with the Nikon lenses, and the Fujifilm in a soft sided smaller cases with it's lenses.

I then have multiple other labeled containers. Most are plastic with covers.I uses multiple sizes. Some are the open top containers such as what I would use for bulkier items like tripod heads.

Container labes include, filters, batteries, cleaning supplies (2 of those), camera trigers, flashes, pocket wizards, tripod heads, lens/body caps (extras), small parts, memory (the cards are put in specific memory pelican cases which are placed in a container), tools, etc. Keep like items with like. I don't mind mixing the two brands as far as the accessories go. I will still be able to find the Fujifilm flash in the container marked flashes.

It has been a work in progress that gets revised occasionally. But I find that it is a lot easier to get out and go shooting when you can find what you need. More importantly to have the labels visible so as to remind you what you might want to take along.
