In January of 2015, 6 of us are planning to go to New Zealand and rent motorcycles. We are in the beginning stages so give me any information you wish to share! We will be there about 7 days.

Will need to decide what area to tour.
I'll need sites to see, places to stay, things to do. Will take all info I can get!

YES! TK, what do you want to photograph, rural or urban scenes?

Remember to ride on the correct side of the road. Hope some locals can help you with scenic trips.

Only 7 days?
Stick with the South Island. Start Christchurch, travel south to Otago to West Coast to Nelson area and back to Christchurch. Best time late March early April. Carry plenty of SD cards.
Remember the whole country goes on holiday Christmas to mid January and accommodation is tight.

Unnecessary ! I think we can all assume that between the 6 of them there'll be at least one with a camera !

tk - go to the user list (see top of each page) and in the box "search by location" enter New Zealand. There you'll find all the Kiwi members - why not ask them for help with a quick PM ?

Drove both north and south island last winter, 3700 kms. 7 days do south. Pace of travel on 2 lane roads much slower than in US, average speed 40 not 60. Suggest Doubtful Sound vs Milford via Manapoura. Food expensive.

This is good to know! We were planning for January. Maybe I can get them to go late January into February. We may be 10 days but not sure. Thank you!

I did that but felt a little intrusive to ask individuals I haven't made a relationship with. Thought if they wanted to help I'd get to know them this way. Seems to have worked. Thanks!!

Renting them there and they cater to international tourists so I'm hoping they do. GOOD QUESTION TO ASK!!! Thanks!
