Looking for a good magazine

As I am just getting back into photography, I am looking for a good magazine to subscribe to out of the many available. Not interested in a "try to sell me everything" publication or a model-oriented publication, I am looking for information and unbiased discussion. Any thoughts?

Nature Photographer (publisher is a UHH member) or Outdoor Photographer.

There are two I find of interest: Outdoor Photography, and Photographic. The latter is by the Peterson folks. They are all trying to sell you, these two seem to work good information into their spreads. Timely and informative, they both are of interest to me.

its too bad that Photo Technique has just quit publication. I have been a subscriber since 1976.

the last editor Wendy Erickson is now setting up an e-zine:

***********************************

First of all I would like to thank you Mogul for mentioning and recommending Nature Photographer magazine to jaymatt.

I don't see our magazine often mentioned here on UHH.

I also do not jump in and promote Nature Photographer in my postings because I do not want to use UHH as a self serving platform.

Our magazine is a little bit different that the other photography publications out there. We publishes images and articles submitted by nature photographers of all skill levels and interests. Articles and images are submitted for consideration by our Level 3 field contributors.
We also have regular columns by Arthur Morris, John and Barbara Gerlach, Weldon Lee, Andy Long and Joe McDonald.
I work with my wife Helen Longest Saccone who founded the magazine in 1989,... Nature Photographer is now going into its 25th year of publication.
Helen does all the magazine design and layout a I handle all image photoshop work and CMYK preparation.

It's just the two of us and quite a schedule oriented lifestyle but we love our work and the wonderful photographers we meet and work with throughout the year.

The magazine is available in book stores,... by mail subscription,... as an ipad app or in PDF format
at http://www.naturephotographermag.com

Thank you in advance if you stop by to check out the Nature Photographer magazine website.

Martys

The one I find most useful is Shutterbug. Next would be Popular Photography. I've tried others but these two seem to have the most articles that are of interest to me. Your interests may be different. Usually you can find magazines at online sites for really cheap, like $5/yr or less and sometimes even free. Do some online searching and subscribe to ones that seem interesting. Quit when the subscription is up if you don't like them.

N Photo strickly Nikon products and many good articles and comparisons lens, bags, tripods, monopods, ball heads and just about everything else. Pick up a copy at barnes & Noble, the company that puts it out also has three or four other mags that are excellent. Not cheap since it comes from Great Britain usually $99 a year.
