Hi Everyone and Merry Christmas. I am a 72 year old female living in central Tn. with my hubby David. We both love to take photos but we aren't very proficient at knowing how to use our cannon Power Shot A590 camera. We've gone over and over the instruction book but I think we both need some hands-on advice. On our last bus trip, I was playing around with some of the settings and somehow ended up with the pictures coming out looking grainy. I had a friend who is a good photographer try to rectify the problem for me but she isn't familiar with these type of cameras. Maybe one of you can advise me how to re-set my settings? I deleted these photos so I won't be able to show you. :?:
Hi from New York and welcome to the UHH.
Without seeing any of the pictures its hard to say what you did wrong.
If you fooled around with the settings in manual mode, just reset the aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Welcome to the group.....Happy Holidays
Hello from New Mexico. I am also new to the site and don't have any answers to you question, but it's good to have you aboard. Merry Christmas!
Welcome to UHH! Post some of those pictures and pay close attention to the aperture setting, ISO setting, and shutter speed. Some of these pros that are very helpful here will ask you stuff relating to those settings.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't been a member long, but find everyone is friendly and very knowledgable.
I use that camera as a p&s camera but it has all the bells and wistles that the more expensive ones have, even lens changing capability. If you are getting grain (noise) in your pictures the ISO (Old film speed designation)may be set too high. If that's the case you may get noise even in full auto setting. Check <canonusa.com> and search for the manual for your camera. That's a great high quality little camera. It can produce very good photographs. I've even used it on an assigned shoot.
