Any recommendations for purchasing a photo printer. It should be able to produce good quality prints in the 11" X 14" range to be used for local photo club judging.
I'm Happy with my Canon Pro-10 It does up to 13x19. Quality is very good and it does not clog up (problem I had with Epson); but the beast certainly uses a lot of ink.
Epsom 2880 great printer or 3000
I would agree with the Canon 10 and going to 19x13 for a print size. But getting good prints all not just about the printer, it includes camera gamut, monitor calibration, post processing software settings, paper profiles, etc. It can be a headache.

The Canon Pixma Pro-100 (A3+, 19x 13) also give excellent results and is cheaper than the printers previously mentioned.

B&H has it for $398 with free shipping and a $300 mail in rebate (paid with an AMEX debit card) so your end cost is only $98, prints 13" x 19". Not a bad deal!!!
I have a Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 that is a couple years old, but still working great. I just got a Canon PIXMA Pro 100 Which has grey inks as well as colors. They both print up to 13" x 19" size. Love them both.
Any recomendations on printers tbat can be taken to events? I have had to turn down jobs because I can't print on site. Most inkjets available locally do not give the quality I personally look for to include the problem of customers being able to smear them easily or tending to jam up. I can get them to not do one or the other but never both.
In otherwords, they either smear or the printer jams. Neither is good.

You left out that B&H includes 50 sheets of 13x19 paper that is worth about $50 by itself.

The Canon pro printers are terrific!
Canon inks tend to be MUCH cheaper than Epson inks. Unless you are going to print onsite and regularly, I recommend letting Costco print them for you. Our local Costco does an excellent job. Just turn off their auto color correction and you are set!

Costco and others are well liked by many for quality prints. But few can figure out how much it costs to print your own. RedRiverPapers did trials on several makes and models, then published the results:
http://www.redrivercatalog.com/cost-of-inkjet-printing.htmlAccording to the Costco Website the price of an 8x10 is a reasonable $1.50. According to RedRiverPapers, the cost of a 8x10 printed from the Pro-100 being discussed here is $.88. RedRiverPapers study says Epson models vary from about $.50 to $1.10.

Someone said that Adorama beat that price by $10. Getting a printer like that for $90 is ridiculous! And, it's nice having that $300 card in my wallet.
Thank you everyone. The problem is not the electricity supply. It is the quality and preference between an inkjet or dye sublimation printer. On site all I print are 4X6 to 8X10.
