This ad for the Ugly Hedgehog popped up while I was surfing the internet...
"Canon vs Nikon:"

Which is better? Here is the truth one of them doesnt want you to know
Obviously, the matter will be settled definitively as it always is in this forum. So where is the answer? Which is better? Nikon or Canon?
P.S.
I do love stirring up the pot.....
The answer is : Nocan! or maybe Cikon!

Quite frankly, if you purchase a top of the range Nikon and a top of the range Canon with quality lenses there is little to choose from. That said I use Leica.
How long before someone turns this thread into a rant about health care, religion or racism? Or have I just done that?
I use Panasonic by the way.
If you go by what photographers buy Canon out sells Nikon by a wide margin.

That does not mean they are better.

You right-wing extremist Tea Party, bible-thumping, gun-toting, RACIST Republican HATER who let's old ladies die for lack of affordable health care!!! How's that?
I've never used Panasonic, but I know they make a lot of good products. How is their lens availability compared to the others? I've always used Nikon so now it's hard to change because all my equipment is geared to that brand. I like Nikon's lens selection and quality, but I'm also aware than Canon makes a GREAT camera!
Nikon quality, however, is NOT up to forgetting it on top of your car.

You do not know what my opinion is. I just said just because one outsells the other does not mean it is better. :?

Wow! I didn't see the Tea Party racist thing coming!
For purposes of full disclosure, I shoot Nikon because my father in law who was a photographer and dark room specialist and considered an expert in all phases of photography gave me a Nikon which got me interested in photography a long time ago. I kept shooting Nikon because I was satisfied with the performance I got from Nikon and I wanted lens compatibility. When pressed for why Nikon, he told me because it was the best camera he could get for the amount of money he was willing to spend.....AT THAT POINT IN TIME! Apparently, he had no brand loyalty and had equipment from multiple manufacturers including Nikon, Canon, Kodak and others.
One point to note....of the professional photographers I have met personally, more shot with Canon. Of course since my profession doesn't put me into contact with more professional photographers than the average person, my anecdotal evidence doesn't carry much weight.
I did raise the question for two reasons. First, it's fun to watch the issue argued. Secondly, because every time I've seen this issue argued, I have learned something new about photography.
So please....if you have an opinion....tell us! And tell us why!
Very true.
McDonalds sells more hamburgers than all of the other fast food restaurants combined. That doesnt mean theyre the best.
Chevrolet sells more cars than Ferarri. Which would YOU rather drive?

My "Tea Party racist thing" was in jest at the post by SpinDrift62's comment about such rants. It wasn't meant seriously. Sorry.
